He's back

There you go, Aaron Sorkin.

Ol' boy finally found his rhythm tonight on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. It was crisp, effortlessly funny without long and clunky diatribes, and left several minor but genuine cliffhangers that made Holly and I pleasantly frustrated when the credits rolled.

Steven Weber ("Jack Rudolph") continues to surprise as a natural fit in the "likable jerk" role, and I'm still thrilled that the presence of Dawn from the British "The Office" -- not Dawn from "Tony Orlando and" -- has translated so well to Sorkin's model.

Best episode yet.

ooohh.... ouch. not sure the mrs. and i can agree with you and yours. we thought it was worse than the ones last season. the whole cell phone thing at the beginning got old quick, pursuing jordan depite her saying to stop is only romantic on tv and grounds for a restraining order in real life. i like the shows where the relationships are subtext -- that's why west wing worked. about the only thing we thought was good last night was the "likeable jerk."

Actually, you're right. I conveniently forgot about the part of the episode I hated. Danny/Jordan is contrived, out of nowhere. I find Matt/Harriet more believable.

But c'mon ... you've never had a romantic restraining order?

I did the same thing Eric did. Hated the Danny/Jordan thing while it was happening, but was enamored enough by the Jack/Macau storyline that I immediately forgot about Danny/Jordan in my excitement at the Macau/FCC cliffhanger. You're right, though -- Danny/Jordan sucks. But Jordan by herself is cool.

However, the only reason the West Wing subtext relationships worked is because in the setting of the White House, everyone has to be really careful about office romances. If it had taken place in any other work environment, Josh and Donna would have gotten together much, much earlier.
