Departed!

Best director, best adapted screenplay and best picture! I'll go along with that. I ate that movie up, man.

The best picture was mildly surprising, but I honestly didn't see a favorite in that race. Every critic had a different front-runner.

It is a great picture. I thought DiCaprio was great in it - didn't see him in Blood Diamond - and even Nicholson was back to being an actor instead of, well, just Jack.

Did you see "The Queen"? Helen Mirren was just great and the scenery in Scotland was spectacular. The guy from "Babe" was Prince Philip and he was okay - the guy who was Charles just never unfurrowed his brow. Biggest disappointment was the Queen Mum who was kind of a battleax in this film and in reality was a tiny little woman (but maybe a battleax behind the scene, who knows?)

My next "must see" is "The Lives of Others" which beat out "Pan's Labyrinth" for best foreign film, so it must be pretty damn good!

Yep, "The Lives of Others" was freakin' GREAT! I would be hard pressed to choose it over "Pan's Labyrinth" but they were so different. Go see if when you can.
